FLYER It Bites are a four piece rock band who originate from Egremont in Cumbria. The four, all in their twenties, had been friends throughout their schooldays and have been gigging together since the age of sixteen. Coming from the North of England, away from the traditional centres of musical activity, enabled them to develop their own approach.

Looking for a wider audience, the band moved to London at the end of 1984, their talent, persistence and boundless enthusiasm impressed Martyn Mayhead sufficently to become their manager and a few months later - in mid '85 - The group signed to the equally impressed Virgin Records.

In '86 they released their debut single, "All in red", which was followed by "Calling all the heroes", the latter giving them an early taste of chart success. But it was the release in August '86 of their first album. "The big Lad in the Windmill" that really implied the talent and potential of It Bites.

Much of 1987 was spent preparing, writing and re-recording material for the follow-up "The Big Lad in the Windmill". A successful series of European Festival Appearances were slotted into the Summer months, with headline shows when time permitted, and some dates on the UK leg of the Marillion's World Tour Taking them up to Christmas.

The quartet set about producing most of the new album themselves and the result "Once Around The World", Also benefits from the experience of legendary guitarist Steve Hillage, who was brought in as producer on some of the album's strongest material, including Kiss Like Judas, the first single from the LP, Released in early February.

Encouragingly It Bites have steadfastly refused to succumb to the temptation to merely capitalise on singles chart success. Instead, Once Around the World Reaffirms It Bites' Deserved reputation of being one of the most original and remarkably inventive young bands to have emerged in quite some time.

"Once Around the World" is to be released on 21st March and It Bites will be embarking on their own nation-wide tour in May.
