BRETT Brett is the ‘mad’ drummer.

He’s not literally mad, he’s just out to make people happy, but what does make him happy? Could it really be as simple as making someone smile, and seeing folk enjoying a gig?

Not only does he put that special touch into Ether which makes us all tap our feet and wiggle our behinds, He gives a lot of happiness and friendship to people and as I’m sure everyone who has ever met him will agree. He embraces life with the kind of enthusiasm and happiness that is rare, carrying little rays of sunshine, hope and of course big smiles wherever he goes.

I have to say is one of the most friendliest, funniest and warm-hearted guys I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet…and he’s gorgeous too

Brett and Music

Yes, its true, he started playing drums after spying Luke Goss and his White and Chrome Tama Artstar. One of the things he regrets in life is that he didn’t take drums up sooner, but when you see a talent as fine as his you kind of know that it wouldn’t have mattered if he was 60 and just gone out and brought his first kit. I can safely say this without any doubt, as he is one of the youngest endorsees in Britain for Zildjian and Sonor. He brought his first kit in 1990, and now uses three, for practice and rehearsals he uses a Tama Rockstar, for studio work he uses a Sonor Lite and live a Sonor Designer. He uses Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Drum heads and Zildjian sticks.

His music influences are great and varied, I don’t think there is a server big enough to host his list, however the edited version includes Abba, Ben Folds Five, Blur, Brand New Heavies, Bros, James Brown, Elvis Costello, Deacon Blue, The Eels, Earth Wind and Fire, Guns n Roses, It Bites, Michael Jackson, Jamiroqui, King Crimson, Lenny Kravtiz, Level 42, Gary Moore, Alanis Morrisette, The Police, Prince, Radiohead, Queen, Rage Against the Machine, Spocks Beard, Steely Dan, Spyro Gyra, Thin Lizzy and Stevie Wonder to name but a few… his absolute favourite though, is Sting.

Playing live, his favourite songs are She Could Fly (cause of the fast roll in the middle and at the end), I Love Her Anyway (cause it’s romantic), He Say Yeah (his signature tune) and If you really want to know

Brett at home

Brett lives with his Mother and Sister in Tonteg, Wales.

To chill, well, apart from relaxing in the bath and pondering about life, the universe and everything in the sanctuary of his room, He has perfected the art of wasting time on his playstation and Tomb Raider is one of his favourite games.

He also watches plenty of films, Stupid of me to ask him what his favourite film was cause I had no idea he is such an addict…. and was subsequently greeted by a list almost as long as his favourite music…

His favourite films include anything with Sandra Bullock in it (can’t think why.. ooh-er) and anything with Mel Gibson in (though not for the same reasons). Being the big kid at heart he’s pretty big on Superheroes – Batman, Spiderman and Superman, and not surprisingly (having never met a guy who doesn’t include it) Star Wars is included on his list - as well as films such as Cliffhanger, Awol, Delirious and The Mask.
